Bretton Woods is one of the largest and most upscale skiing resorts in the state of New Hampshire. With 464 acres of skiable land, Bretton Woods has a wide range of skiing options. One of the best things about this resort is that it can stay open for much longer than its neighboring resorts. With snowmaking coverage at 97% of its trails and an average of 20 inches of annual snowfall, Bretton Woods can open up in early November and stay open till mid-April.

Be sure to visit Bretton woods on a clear day to make sure you can witness the incredible view from the top. You will get to see Mt. Washington from the top surrounded by thin clouds of fog and frost along with the red rooftops and towers of the White Mountain grand hotels stretching at its foot.

2. Loon Mountain - Lincoln, NH

Spreading across three peaks, and featuring a 2100-foot vertical drop and 61 trails in total, Loon Mountain skiing resort is known for its exceptionally diverse terrain and state-of-the-art snowmaking system. The resort has various terrain parks some of which are suited for beginners and intermediate skiers while some are designed specifically to challenge experienced skiers.

Loon Mountain is one of the most easily accessible skiing resorts in the area and offers picturesque scenery and year-round activities and events making it perfect for family vacations. The resort is also equipped with different modern technologies to make your experience even better including over 600 snow guns that make sure that Loon Mountain gets a long skiing season every year. Moreover, there are comfortable chair lifts including an eight-place chairlift and the new Seven Brothers Express Quad, that can transport well over 2000 skiers per hour.

There is also an adventure center at the base area which offers a wide range of exciting activities including snow tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and ice skating. However, one of the most popular activities among visitors is the zipline ride over the frozen river running past the base. 3. Cannon Mountain - Franconia, NH

Home to some of the toughest skiing trails in the state of New Hampshire, Cannon Mountain is where experienced skiers come looking for a challenge. However, don't let that scare you if you are a beginner as it is also home to the popular Tuckerbrook Family Area which is tailor-made for families and beginners. Cannon Mountain overlooks Franconia Notch and offers scenic views of the park. The summit is 4,080 feet high and receives plenty of snowfall throughout the year.

The resort also features a modern aerial tram, 10 chairlifts, and modern snowmaking equipment covering almost all the trails. However, keep in mind that there are no accommodations on the mountain so it is best to visit during the morning so you can come back down with plenty of time to find yourself a good place to spend the night.

Popular activities at Cannon Mountain include tubing, snowshoeing, night skiing, fat biking, and scenic chairlift rides.

4. Wildcat Mountain - Gorham, NH

Wildcat Mountain is another one of those places that are more suited for seasoned campaigners than beginners and children. However, it still attracts plenty of families and inexperienced skiers on clear days as it offers some of the most incredible views in the white mountains. With an average of 200 inches of snowfall annually and 90% snowmaking coverage across all 49 of its trails, Wildcat Mountain is among one of the most popular skiing resorts in the region.

It is situated right across Mt. Washington and offers an unobstructed view of the tallest mountain in the northeast from the summit. Although most trails here are suited for experienced campaigners, there is a green-rated trail from the summit that is more suited for beginners and intermediate skiers.

Cranmore Mountain is home to 54 trails spreading over more than 200 acres of skiable terrain. There are plenty of ways to access these trails, including 9 lifts, a high-speed quad, a fixed-grip quad, two fixed-grip triples, one fixed-grip double, and four surface lifts

Cranmore Mountain resort was one of the very first ski resorts to acquire trail grooming technology because of its western exposure that used to melt the snow during the day. However, this western exposure is also one of the things that have always made this resort one of the most popular skiing destinations in the area as the temperature becomes quite pleasant during the day.
